The Leafmore-Creek Park Hills Civic Association, Inc. (the "Association") hereby notifies all members that the Association will hold a members' meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at the Leafmore-Creek Park Club Clubhouse on Altamont Drive.

PRINCIPAL SPEAKER AND PRESENTER:  MR. DAVID KAUFMAN, AUTHOR OF PEACHTREE CREEK A NATURAL AND UNNATURAL HISTORY OF ATLANTA'S WATERSHED

The viability, water quality, preservation, and restoration of the watersheds of Burnt Fork Creek (which in the 19th century was known as the Burnt Fork of Peachtree Creek) and the South Fork of Peachtree Creek and their appurtenant wetlands and residing wildlife have been -- in the wake of the development of North Central and Northeast DeKalb County and the area's transition from agricultural to residential and commercial uses -- of great concern to area residents, civic associations, and several government agencies/departments, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.  Indeed, several residents of Leafmore-Creek Park Hills residing along Burnt Creek and Spring Creek Roads have endured repeated flooding of their homes and yards and increases in flood-insurance premiums for several years as the Federal Emergency Management Agency has enlarged the associated flood plains in response to increased development and additional impervious surfaces.

Thus, the Leafmore-Creek Park Hills Civic Association, Inc. is pleased to announce that Mr. David Kaufman, author and principal photographer of the book Peachtree Creek A Natural and Unnatural History of Atlanta's Watershed, will present a program on the history of and challenges facing the watersheds of Burnt Fork Creek, the South Fork of Peachtree Creek, and related streams at a Leafmore-Creek Park Hills Civic Association, Inc. community meeting on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at 7:30 pm, at the Leafmore-Creek Park Club Clubhouse on Altamont Drive.  All L-CHCA members and residents of Leafmore-Creek Park Hills and surrounding neighborhoods interested in these watersheds are invited to attend this community meeting.

All Association members are invited and encouraged to attend this meeting.
